Obituary of Joseph Trombetti. Joseph Trombetti, 79, a Red Hook resident since 1986, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at his home. Mr. Trombetti was a longtime Executive Chef at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and he was a member of the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique de New York, Inc. Prior to moving to Red Hook, he and his family lived in the Bronx. Mr. Trombetti was active in the Free and Accepted Masons and has been an avid hunter. Born on January 31, 1931 in Italy, he was the son of the late David and Rose (Bertirella) Trombetti. Joseph married Mary L. Platoni on September 23, 1951 in Our Lady of Pompay in New York, NY. Mary predeceased him on April 29, 1999. She is survived by her son; David Trombetti and his wife Ann of Red Hook, NY, a daughter; Peggy Rose of Fishkill, NY, four grandchildren; David Trombetti of Hartsdale, NY, Jennifer (Brian) Grant of Red Hook, NY, Sabrina Rose, and Jamie Rose of Wappinger Falls, NY, son in law; James Rose of Wappinger Falls, NY, three sisters; Anita Costa of Bronxville, NY, Maria Zazzera of Italy, and Rita Zecca of Italy, and two great grandchildren; Tyler and Anthony Grant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 29th, 2011 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, NY. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Friday, January 28th, 2011 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. Memorial donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 333 Seventh Avenue, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
