    Grazie for a very interesting detailed, informative story.
    My grandfather from Valmozzola and his son both lived in Manchester UK., and were interned in the Isle of Man.
    They never discussed the experience to us in the family.

    My Nonno, Giuseppe Togneri who was from Dunbar in Scotland was on the Arandora Star and lost at sea. I have found this very distressing but glad to know so much more about the disaster as it was never really talked about . I have an old book called “The Star of Shame” by Des Hickey & Gus Smith published in 1989. Have seen the memorial at St Peters in Clerkenwell but have yet to visit the Cloister Garden In Glasgow. Is it possible to get a copy of your publication please?
